Barre3 Charleston announced this week an evening to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention and mental wellness. Thursday, April 18, the historic American Theatre and William Aiken House in downtown Charleston will host a night to move, sweat and breathe in honor of those lost to suicide and the loved ones they left behind. Attendees are encouraged to show up no matter what journey they have been on and to SPREAD LOVE and SUPPORT for one another. Tickets are $20 and available on EventBrite.
More than 42,000 people are lost annually year to suicide, which means someone in the country dies by suicide every 12.8 minutes. In almost all cases, suicide can be traced to unrecognized, untreated, or poorly treated mental illness.
“This important cause, which has touched me personally and so many others across our local community, needs events like these that encourage people to come together to move and breathe,” said Mary Ann Stisher, Studio Owner of Barre3 Charleston. “I have wanted to do something like this since college but never had the confidence. Becoming a part of the Barre3 community has been life changing and empowered me to take a leap of faith. Barre3’s mission is for people to be balance in body and empowered from within and I am hopeful people will leave after this event feeling that way. I am so thankful to Charles Patrick and the entire team at Patrick Properties Hospitality Group for providing such a beautiful space for this event to take place. I’m confident that by moving together and raising more awareness around mental wellness, we can collectively make a difference in the Charleston community”.
Barre3 Charleston is partnering with John’s Toast Live a series of events supporting Pivotal Moments, a 501(c)(3) public charity on a mission to encourage more youth to become champions for mental wellness. The funds raised from Sweat Out Of Darkness will assist with the implementation of Mental Wellness Basics in high schools across the country for free. The digital learning program aligns with Pivotal Moment’s mission of Advocating, Educating and Inspiring today’s youth and fosters mental wellness in the classroom and equipping students with lifelong mental wellness skills.
